Vigilance for signs of FMD
The UK Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Christine Middlemiss, has advised livestock keepers to “exercise the upmost vigilance for signs of disease, follow scrupulous biosecurity, and report any suspicion of disease immediately to the Animal and Plant Health Agency”.
This follows the news that the UK Government have suspended imports of pig, cattle and sheep products from Germany due to confirmed cases of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in water buffalo near Berlin.
