General information

• Originated in France in the Champagne region.
• In the nest, the coat is a self color.
• From 6-8 weeks they begin to turn silver.
• The process is completed in approximately 6-7 months when they turn their respective colors.

Argente Champagne

• The oldest breed of Argente.
• It was introduced into Britain in 1920.
• The largest of the four Argente varieties.
• One of the oldest Fur breeds.

Argente Bleu

• This breed was recreated in 1940 by H Dowle.
• Smaller than the Argente Champagne.

Argente Brun

• Very similar to the Argente Bleu.
• Became extinct in the early 1920s.
• At a later stage Brown Beveren were introduced to the Argente Brun to improve the breed.
• The Argente Brun was also created in 1940 by H Dowle.

Argente Creme

• This is the smallest of the Argente breeds.
