Synonym(s): 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6'-methylresorufin) ester

Overview

  • 1,2-o-dilauryl-rac-glycero-3-glutaric acid-(6'-methylresorufin) ester (DGGR) lipase increases in pancreatic inflammation.
  • Although not pancreas specific, DGGR lipase has a good correlation with Spec fPL and similar diagnostic yield for the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
  • Faster turnaround and less expensive than Spec fPL Feline pancreatic lipase immunoreactivity (fPLi) test.

Tests

Methodologies

  • Colorimetric assay - measures the rate of dye formation yielded from the catalytic breakdown of DGGR by lipases.

Availability

  • Possible to be measured in-house or in commercial laboratories.
  • Faster turnaround and less expensive than Spec fPL.

Validity

  • In cats suspected of pancreatitis that had an unremarkable pancreas at histologic examination a sensitivity of 36.8% with a specificity of 100% was obtained. When lymphocytic inflammation in up to 10% of a transverse section of the pancreas was considered normal DGGR lipase sensitivity increased to 66.7% while the specificity decreased to 78.6% (see Oppliger et al, 2016 for further details). These results were similar to Spec fPL. These sensitivities and specificities were obtained when using the “Lipase colorimetric assay” for Roche Cobas Integra 800 with a cutoff value >26 U/L.
  • High agreement between DGGR lipase and Spec fPL in the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
