Indications

  • Treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency.
  • Such a deficiency may develop in patients with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, ileal disease or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
  • The domestic cat is particularly susceptible to B12 deficiency with chronic intestinal disease.
  • In man hydroxocobalamin has replaced cyanocobalamin for therapy.
  • In veterinary species, cyanocobalamin is the most commonly used form.
