Storage requirements

• Loss of drug activity is negligible for at least 8 hours in room light.
• After reconstitution the preparation is stable for 1 week if refrigerated and stored in the dark.

Uses

Indications

• Serious systemic mycoses, eg cryptococcosis Cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis and blastomycosis.
• Fungal septicemia.
• Fungal urinary tract infections.
• Candida Candida albicans (rare in cats) is particularly susceptible to this agent.

Interactions

with other drugs

• Amphotericin may increase the toxic effects of cisplatin, fluorouracil, doxorubicin and methotrexate.
• Flucytocine Flucytosine is synergistic with amphotericin B in vitro versus candida Candida albicans, cryptococcus Cryptococcosis and aspergillosis Aspergillosis.
