Zoonotic disease - tips for reducing risks

Keeping your pets healthy and free from parasites is a great way to reduce the risk of zoonotic disease. This includes regular veterinary visits, staying up-to-date on vaccines, and using effective parasite control.

Frequent hand washing is of the utmost importance in preventing transmission of many zoonotic organisms. Petting zoos and farm visits are valuable educational tools, but children (in particular those younger than 5 years) must be properly supervised to help reduce their risk for exposure to zoonotic diseases.
