Endoscopy - the inside story
When your veterinarian examines your pet they can see if there are any signs of illness or sores on the outside. Sometimes it can be really helpful to look inside an animal to see what is going on there. There are many ways of examining the insides of an animal - blood test, imaging techniques (like X-ray and ultrasound) and sometimes it is necessary to operate to find out what is going on. One alternative to some forms of surgery is endoscopy. Endoscopy is increasingly being performed in general practice and your veterinarian may suggest it for your pet if it has a breathing problem or bowel trouble.
