Ear disease, sometimes called 'canker', is not uncommon in cats. Some cats seem to have regular bouts of ear disease and this can be irritating for cat and owner alike. Most ear disease in cats is caused by a small parasite and this can be resolved by a course of ear drops or a simple 'spot-on' treatment from your veter.
