Physical properties

• Off white to white, fine to granular powder.
• Practically insoluble in water, but freely soluble in alcohol.

Storage requirements

• Oral form: room temperature in tight, light resistant containers.
• Injectable form: room temperature.

Indications

• To control mild to moderate pain.
• Not recommended for pre-operative administration.

Interactions

with other drugs

• NSAIDs
• Do not administer concurrently.
• Increased risk of GI ulceration.
• Increased risk of convulsions (man).

Diuretics

• Increased risk of nephrotoxicity.

Anti-hypertensive agents

• NSAIDs may antagonize the hypotensive effects of anti-hypertensives, eg beta-blockers.

Anti-coagulants

• Do not administer concurrently.

Other substances

• Do not mix with other substances in the same syringe.

• May falsely elevate glucose and bilirubin.
