Introduction

• An autoimmune disease of the muscles, including the esophagus.
• Cause: antiacetylcholine receptor antibodies.
• Signs: hindlimb weakness, flaccid paraparesis -> tetraparesis, megaesophagus, vomiting, weight loss.
• Diagnosis: nerve conduction velocity testing, serology, muscle biopsy/histopathology, radiography.
• Treatment: pyridostigmine bromide, prednisolone; administration of critical care formula; famotidine.
