  • Examination and classification of 100-200 WBCs on Diff-Quik, Wrights or Romanowsky-stained blood smear.
  • WBCs are classified into neutrophils (bands   Blood: neutrophils    Blood: band neutrophil - cytology  and mature forms   Blood: band neutrophils  ), eosinophils   Blood: eosinophils  , basophils   Blood: basophils  , lymphocytes   Blood: lymphocytes  and monocytes   Blood: monocytes  , and any primitive   Blood: lymphoblast 02  , abnormal types   Blood: agglutination 03 - erythrocyte    Blood: erythrocyte hypochromasia    Blood: lymphoblast 01  or inclusions are noted.
    Automated differential
  • Classification of 10,000 WBCs by cytochemical staining and laser techniques other methods being developed.
