  • Filgrastim (G-CSF).

Class of drug

  • Recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor.
  • Glycoprotein produced by bone marrow, stromal cells, monocytes/macrophages, fibroblasts and endothelial cells.

Indications

  • Indicated in the management of neutropenia. Neutrophil counts rise within 24 hours. Following discontinuation of therapy, neutrophil counts drop to normal after 5 days.
  • Most likely to be used in febrile patients with neutrophil counts of less than 1x10*9/l.
