  • Round, white tablets, 25 mg and 75 mg are scored, 150 mg are not scored.
  • Clear, colorless oral solution.
  • Clear, colorless injection.

Interactions

with other drugs

Cross-resistance

  • Complete cross-resistance between lincomycin Lincomycin and clindamycin.
  • Partial cross-resistance with erythromycin Erythromycin.

Non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, eg tubocurarine

  • May be increased by clindamycin.

Neostigmine and pyridostigmine

Erythromycin

  • See also erythromycin Erythromycin.
  • Antagonize each other's effects in vitro; clinical significance unknown.

Ketoconazole

  • See also ketoconazole Ketoconazole.
  • May inhibit metabolism of clindamycin resulting in higher blood concentrations.
Clindamycin can cause neuromuscular blockade; avoid use with aminoglycosides or anesthetic neuromuscular blockade.
