Indications

It is recommended that specialist advice be sought prior to using parenteral nutrition.

  • Used for patients requiring nutritional support, ie those with gastrointestinal failure associated with pancreatitis Pancreatitis: acute , gastric ulceration Gastric ulceration , severe inflammatory bowel disease and intractable vomiting.
  • Parenteral nutrition mixtures comprise combinations of amino acid solutions, glucose solutions and a fat emulsion.
