Introduction

  • The histopathological examination of samples taken from soft tissue lesions involving the eye is a very important part of the complete ophthalmic examination Eye: examination and is mandatory if neoplasia Retrobulbar: neoplasia is suspected.
  • The histopathologic diagnosis is essential to determine the treatment and prognosis of any neoplastic lesion.
  • Particularly suited to investigation are lesions involving the eyelids Eyelid: neoplasia , conjunctiva Conjunctiva: neoplasia , third eyelid, cornea or sclera.
  • Topical, local and general anesthesia Anesthesia: in ophthalmic surgery may be required depending on the individual case.
