Introduction

  • Uncommon, affecting young, medium/large breeds.
  • Cause: often concurrent hip dysplasia Hip: dysplasia.
  • Signs: unilateral/bilateral, progressive, recurrent, hindlimb lameness.
  • Diagnosis: signs, radiography.
  • Treatment: conservative.

General

  • Large, rapidly growing, young dogs.
  • High energy (calorie) diet.

Pathophysiology

Timecourse

  • 1-3 months, before skeletal maturity.
