Skin: alopecia - overview



  • Loss of hair from areas of the body in which a normal hair coat is expected.
  • Due to both pruritic and non-pruritic dermatoses.
  • Classification based on acquired and congenital etiologies plus distribution of alopecia, ie localized, multifocal or diffuse, is a useful pathomechanistic approach.
