Introduction

  • Chronic, progressive, destructive inflammatory arthropathy, usually affecting several joints.
  • Cause: immune-mediated arthropathy.
  • Signs: stiffness and joint swelling.
  • Diagnosis: radiography.
  • Treatment: immunosuppressive therapy.
  • Prognosis: guarded.

Pathogenesis

Etiology

  • Immune complexes forming as a result of production of immunoglobulin M antibody against self immunoglobulin G.

Pathophysiology

same as immune mediated arthritides.
