Introduction

  • Cause: a rare, erosive, immune-mediated arthritis and splenomegaly (2 cases have been reported in the dog) Arthritis: immune-mediated Arthritis: erosive.
  • Signs: progressive swelling, pain, stiffness and lameness of one or more joints.
  • Diagnosis: radiography, cytopathology.
  • Treatment: suppression of immune response and control of inflammation.
  • Prognosis: poor - therapy may preserve quality of life but euthanasia may be necessary.

Etiology

  • Unknown.

Pathophysiology

  • Immune-mediated.
