Cognitive dysfunction syndrome

Cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) in dogs and cats can be compared with Alzheimer's disease in humans, although the conditions are not identical. Before diagnosing CDS, your veterinarian may want to rule out other medical conditions that can cause similar clinical signs. Medications can help some pets with CDS. There is a diet for dogs with CDS, and nutritional supplements may also help manage the problem in pets.
