  • Can be induced by treatment of bacteria with cell-wall damaging products.

Transmission

  • Entry by contamination of bite wounds.
  • Bacteria can become L-form within the host.

Pathological effects

  • Fever, polyarthritis, cellulitis, draining tracts and abscesses.

Control

Control via chemotherapies

  • Tetracyclines. Resistant to many antibacterials due to lack of cell wall.
