Introduction

General information

  • Originated in the West Ridings area of Yorkshire. Developed as a pocket-sized dog used by miners for ratting.
  • Long straight hair requires regular grooming, even if clipped short.
  • Size reduction has brought with it several medical problems, but had little impact on terrier nature of the dog.
  • Typically energetic and dynamic, may need more exercise than its size and delicacy would imply.
  • Makes an ideal companion.
