Introduction

General information

  • An ancient breed from China with strong associations with the Buddhist religion.
  • At one time only Chinese royalty were allowed to own a Pekingese.
  • Can be independent and stubborn.
  • Short bowed legs and a very slow walking speed result in a diminished requirement for exercise.
  • Profuse course coat and heavy mane will require diligent gooming.
  • Do not be surprised by this breed's dignity and spirit; it has both in abundance.
