Introduction

General information

  • Originated in Mexico.
  • Two distinct sizes, the standard and the miniature.
  • Being hairless, this breed is very sensitive to both cold weather (literally needing a knitted coat) and is also susceptible to sunburn in hotter weather. The fragile skin needs regular attention and protection from the elements.
  • Some are born with a fine, downy fur, but these are not recognized by the breed clubs.
  • They make an excellent pet, also being a good guard dog with efficient use of their voice as an alarm.
