Introduction

General information

  • The Griffon originated in Holland, the early breeding selection being carried out by Eduard Korthals, the creator of the breed.
  • Dating back to the 1870s, the Korthals Griffon is a working dog. It does require reasonable amounts of exercise and will become destructive if bored. They do not make good pets unless worked in some way. They are a social animal and do not take well to being kenneled alone.
  • A robust dog, of workmanlike appearance and medium size with a harsh coat. Well developed moustache and beard.
  • Gentle, proud and very loyal.
  • Coat is harsh and coarse with a dense fine undercoat. Never curly or woolly.
