Introduction

General information

  • Originated in Germany, was used as a farm worker.
  • The mittel is the standard size of 3 sizes (giant, standard, and toy).
  • Although not easily obedience trained, they make good companions. Also make good guard dogs.
  • Confident, refined and elegant, the coat requires constant grooming to prevent matting, and some do not like being groomed.
  • Some males also do not take kindly to other dogs or strange people.
  • Suitable for the urban environment but not hotter climates.
