Introduction

General information

  • Strong, substantial breed, originating from the mountainous area of Cantal, in the province of Auvergne in the mid-south of France.
  • Very similar in appearance to other French pointing dogs.
  • Gentle, highly intelligent and extremely eager to please and extremely affectionate with its family.
  • Medium sized, robust, considered slightly heavier and stronger than most pointing breeds.
  • Considered highly trainable, with excelling scenting, natural worker and hunter, and prefers to work closely with handler.
  • Short, glossy coat makes for minimal grooming – a brush once a week or less is usually sufficient.
