General information

  • Hounds from France tend to come in several sizes such as Bassett (meaning short legged), Petit and Grand. This breed comes from Gascony in southwest France and is less well known than the Grand Bleu De Gascogne Grand Bleu De Gascogne.
  • Recognized by the Kennel Club in the 1990s.
  • Nearly became extinct in France in the early 1990s but was recreated using some larger Bleu De Gascogne.
  • An euthusiastic, if slow, hunter with a deep and sonorous voice.
  • Affectionate but reserved.
