Vaccination: information for farmers

A cow’s ability to avoid and fight infection is largely dependent on a range of defences which are collectively called immunity. Immunity includes physical barriers, such as skin, or a teat plug, for example; chemical immunity, such as from antibodies and inflammatory substances; and cells, which either actively seek and destroy pathogens (bugs) or produce antibodies to neutralise pathogens.
