Failure of milk let down
Failure of milk let down/ejection leads to a reduced or absent milk flow when the cluster is applied. This is usually a problem in first calving heifers. Failure of milk let down will lead to reduced milk production and thus have a negative impact on the profits of the farm. Various factors may be involved in its occurrence, including hormonal, stress, disease, poorly maintained milking equipment. Agalactiae is the failure of lactation (milk production) after parturition and is dealt with as a separate subject.
