Significance

  • Cooperia oncophora is generally considered to be only mildly pathogenic in calves, rarely causing reduced growth rates, but in association with Ostertagia ostertagi Ostertagia ostertagi, it is an important contributor to parasitic gastroenteritis in young calves.
  • C. pectinata, C. punctata and C. surnabada (C. mcmasteri) infections can cause enteritis and diarrhea.
