After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2005, Paul spent two years in mixed practice and as a small and exotic animal locum. He then started a year long MSc in Wild Animal Health with ZSL London, before returning to the RVC as a farm animal clinician and also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Education. After three years in this role Paul switched to a job providing consultancy work at Pfizer Animal Health. In 2012, Paul joined the University of Cambridge staff as Farm clinician, here he achieved a Diploma in Veterinary Education and was responsible for the development and provision of ambulatory and referral clinical work. Since October 2016, he has held the role of Principal Clinician at the Dick Vet Farm Animal Practice and Hospital. Paul has contributed a selection of excellent articles to Bovis, but we can’t tell you which ones yet, as they’re awaiting anonymous peer-review! Paul is one of a number of Dick Vet clinicians who are contributing to Bovis and we are delighted to be working with him and his colleagues at the University of Edinburgh. Paul is an experienced speaker and a familiar face at the London Vet Show and BCVA Congress. Paul is just as happy working with a pet pig as with a large dairy unit, but his main interests are Fertility and Obstetrics, Surgery and Knowledge Transfer. Outside of work, he can often be found walking the Scottish countryside with his wife and dogs. He also enjoys cycling, swimming, snowboarding and scuba diving (but continues to hate running!). Having previously loved playing rugby, Paul now notices it is best to be an armchair fan of the sport due to increasing injury recovery times. He is an avid reader, and enjoys writing, with two veterinary textbooks in the pipeline.
