Stewart Halperin - Contributor Profile


Stewart graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from Edinburgh University in 1992 and went to complete an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College, Canada the following year. 

Between 1993 and 2002 Stewart acted as head Veterinary Surgeon and worked in referral and emergency practice for many central London clinics including Village Vet, Elizabeth Street and Stone Lion. 

In 2002 Stewart founded Petcare Clinics, a successful group of small animal clinics in central London.

In April 2012, Stewart became one of the first vets in the UK to carry out Adipose derived Stem Cell transplants in a dog with osteoarthritis and now carries out the stem cell treatments for the Stemcellvet practice. After the sale of the Petcare Group in 2017, Stewart now concentrates on the development of clinical and practice protocols for the advancement of stem cell therapy in small animals at his Stemcellvet practice, based in Somerset UK. 

Stewart is a previous director of the London Veterinary Forum, which represented and advised some 250 independent veterinary practices, and currently sits on the advisory board for Vetsure.
