Karen obtained her BA, MA and VMD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in the US, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her residency training in Veterinary Behavioral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and is a Diplomatee of the ACVB. She also ran the Pennsylvania Behavior Clinic for over 12 years. Karen has lectured at veterinary schools worldwide and is an Associate Professor at the University of Prince Edward Island’s Atlantic Veterinary College, in Canada and a Senior Research Scientist at UPenn. Karen has given hundreds of national and international presentations and short courses, and has authored over 100 scholarly publications, textbooks, textbook chapters and manuals. She is also editor-in-chief for the Journal of Veterinary Behavior: Clinical Applications and Research (Elsevier).
