Kate graduated from Cambridge University, UK in 1995. She spent time working in general practice then returned to Cambridge as a HBLB Scholar and undertook a residency in anaesthesia. Kate gained both the RCVS Diploma in Anaesthesia and the ECVAA Diploma and has since re-accredited twice. Following this, she worked as a self-employed consultant in referral practices, pharmaceutical companies, academia, zoos and biomedical research providing anaesthesia services. In 2009 she joined Nottingham University, became Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia in 2015 and the Clinical Director of the school. In 2019 she became a Fellow of the RCVS for Meritorious Contribution to Clinical Practice. Kate was appointed Deputy Head of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at Nottingham in 2022.
