Jo Ireland

Bio

Jo graduated from the Glasgow, UK in 2000. She initially worked in equine first opinion practice but has also worked in a large equine referral hospital in Sweden, and volunteered as a vet in The Gambia for the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. ‌In 2010, she obtained the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Equine Medicine – Internal) and also joined the Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance group at the Animal Health Trust. In 2011 she completed her PhD in equine geriatric health and welfare at the University of Liverpool. ‌In 2017, she started working at Leahurst in their first opinion equine practice teaching veterinary undergraduate students. Jo’s main research interests are equine epidemiology and internal medicine, particularly geriatric medicine, endocrine disorders, endocrinopathic laminitis and lower respiratory tract disease.
