Physical properties

  • Synthetically derived, white crystalline powder.
  • Soluble at 20 mg/mL in water.
  • Human preparations are available in some localities as oral tablets, capsules, oral solution and injectable solution for infusion:
    • Each 200 mg vial (10 mg/mL x 20 mL) concentrate for solution for infusion is a clear, colorless, sterile aqueous solution with a pH of 5.5.
    • Injections must be diluted to <4mg/mL before administration.

Storage requirements

  • Store oral dosage forms and undiluted solution for infusion at controlled room temperature (20-25°C/68-77°F). Once diluted in compatible fluids, the solution for infusion may be stored for 24 h at room temperature or 48 h in the refrigerator (2-8°C/35.6-46.4°F).
