  1. This film has been under exposed and consequently the image is too white and cannot be interpreted.
  2. Under exposure can be differentiated from under development.
  3. In under development  Film faults: under development the part of the primary beam reaching the film without passing through the patient causes blackening of the emulsion.
  4. It is impossible to interpret an underexposed film as the detail does not exist on the image.
  5. The examination should be repeated using increased exposure factors.
  6. Causes of under exposure  Radiography: film faults are:
  7. kV too low.
  8. mA too low.
  9. Exposure time too short.
  10. Focal film distance too long.
  11. Grid cut off.
