Heart: pacemaker leads

  1. The pacemaker lead is connected to the generator and conveys electrical signals to and from the heart.
  2. The tip of the lead, which is placed in contact with the myocardium, can be in the form of a corkscrew (active fixation) or have plastic tines that enmesh themselves into the normal trabecular of the ventricular endocardial surface (passive fixation).
