- Lateral thoracic projection of a normal cat.
- Cats vary in size much less than dogs and cardiac dimensions are more standard.
- The craniocaudal width of the heart is measured and this dimension is compared to the rib spaces.
- In the normal cat the heart should be no more than 2 rib spaces wide.
- A VHS score has also been developed for the cat.
