  1. Heart increased in width almost filling thorax.
  2. Heart also increased in length, with apex displaced to right side. Pointed shape to heart differentiates from pericardial effusion (rare but reported in cats).
  3. Engorged pulmonary blood vessel.
  4. No obvious pulmonary edema therefore no indication yet of left-sided heart failure.
  5. Differential diagnosis is a congenital heart anomaly such as a ventricular septal defect.
