Introduction

Name

  • Prilocaine hydrochloride.

Class of drug

  • Amino amide local anesthetic.

Description

  • Stop injection.
  • Remove EMLA cream.
  • Treat symptomatically if CNS signs are evident (airway and respiratory support).
  • Cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation if cardiac arrest.
  • Methemoglobinemia can be treated by slowly injection 1% methylene blue at a dose no greater than 4.4 mg/kg repeated after 30 min if no response.
