Introduction
Name
- Esmolol hydrochloride.
Class of drug
- Selective ß1 -adrenoceptor blocker.
- Antiarrhythmic.
- Vaughn-Williams Classification II.
Description
- Stop administration of drug.
- Monitor hemodynamic parameters (ECG, heart rate, blood pressure).
- Monitor blood glucose and serum potassium.
- Cardiovascular support such as intravenous fluids, atropine for bradycardia and cardiovascular drugs such as dobutamine and phenylephrine may be necessary. Higher doses of beta-agonists may be required.
