Introduction

Name

  • Esmolol hydrochloride.

Class of drug

  • Selective ß1 -adrenoceptor blocker.
  • Antiarrhythmic.
  • Vaughn-Williams Classification II.

Description

  • Stop administration of drug.
  • Monitor hemodynamic parameters (ECG, heart rate, blood pressure).
  • Monitor blood glucose and serum potassium.
  • Cardiovascular support such as intravenous fluids, atropine for bradycardia and cardiovascular drugs such as dobutamine and phenylephrine may be necessary. Higher doses of beta-agonists may be required.
