  1. This is a diagram of intensifying screen construction .
  2. Screens convert x-ray photons to light which exposes the film.
  3. Base - an inert rigid support layer, usually polyester.
  4. Reflector - a white pigment spread evenly over the screen which reflects light, produced by the phosphor, towards the film.
