  1. Attachment for the oblique distal sesamoidean ligament. This may be more prominent on oblique views and/or in older horses.
  2. Collateral ligament attachment (bilateral) for the distal interphalangeal joint.
  3. Articular surface of the middle phalanx extends dorsally to this point.
  4. Proximal interphalngeal joint.
