Distribution

  • Worldwide.

Significance

  • Reports of infection in companion animals are rare.
  • R. equi is an emerging zoonotic pathogen, particularly in immunocompromised patients.
  • Causes pyogranulomatous pneumonia in foals and has a major economic impact on equine breeding activities globally.
