Introduction
- Cause: idiopathic.
- Signs: skin condition showing greasy plugs adhering to skin and hair of pinnal margin.
- Diagnosis: clinical signs, histopathology.
- Treatment: bathing of affected areas, surgery and ear cropping in severe cases.
- Prognosis: lifelong condition.
Presenting signs
- Tags of hyperkeratosis or greasy plugs adhering to pinnal margin.
- May also be plugs elsewhere on skin.
Breed/Species predisposition
- Dachshund Dachshund.
- Flat-coat Retriever Retriever: Flat-coated.
- Springer Spaniel English Springer Spaniel.
- Doberman Dobermann.
Cost considerations
- Requires lifelong treatment.
