Eye examination

ISSN 2398-2993

Contributor(s) :

Synonym(s): Ophthalmic examination, Ocular examination

Introduction

  • Many bovine eye conditions are easily recognised by the experienced cattle clinician and a detailed ophthalmic examination may not always be necessary or practical on farm.  However, this article describes a thorough clinical examination and should be helpful to less experienced clinicians or for those unusual cases that need a little more investigation.

Technical problems

  • Patient may be large, fractious and uncomfortable. Vet, handler and patient safety are all paramount.
