Introduction

Examination of acetate strip samples

  • Tape strips can be invaluable when diagnosing superficial parasites, especially louse species Lice: overview, such as:
  1. Linognathus vituli.
  2. Haematopinus eurysternus.
  3. Solenopotes capillatus.
  4. Bovicola (Damalinia) bovis.
  5. Also Trombicula spp and fly eggs.
  • Examination of stained tape strips is also an excellent way of detecting surface infections with bacteria or Malassezia spp yeasts.
